Six Community College Students Named ‘Crosby Marketing Scholars’

11.12.2024

Crosby Marketing Communications has named six Anne Arundel Community College students to participate in the Crosby Marketing Scholars Program. Founded in 2022, the $100,000 scholarship program seeks to create greater opportunities for students from all backgrounds to pursue degrees and future careers in the advertising and public relations field.

Scholarship recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year are:

  • Tyrone J. (TJ) Majors, Jr., studying Graphic and Web Design and planning to pursue a career in website design.
  • Melissa Wiggington, a Graphic and Web Design major, whose dream is to become an animator for movie studios.
  • Julissa Mendoza Robles, a Creative Writing student. With a background in music and publishing, she hopes to work in those industries, specializing in Hispanic/Latino music or literature.
  • Daira (Dee) Rodgriguez Diaz, a Film Studies major whose goal is to work in movies as a video editor, cinematographer, screenwriter, producer, or director.
  • Michael James, a Graphic Design major, who is planning a career in product design, web design, or video production.
  • Jelilat (Lily) Salako, Marketing major, who wants to develop innovative marketing programs for the gaming industry.

Each year, the Crosby Marketing Scholars Program offers AACC students a two-year scholarship providing financial support to pursue studies related to Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Multimedia/Video Production and Web Design. Students also receive ongoing guidance from AACC professors and are paired with a Crosby staff member who provides mentoring and career advice. At the end of a student’s two-year participation in the program, they are offered a summer internship at Crosby to gain added experience.

“Having more people from diverse backgrounds is a strength that helps drive innovation and creativity in the advertising and public relations industry,” said CEO and President Raymond Crosby. “We are excited to support this new group of scholars in their career development and look forward to the contributions they will make to our field.”
