Crosby Leads Creative Development of “Team ENERGY STAR” Campaign for the EPA
Kids Outreach Initiative Encourages Kids to Join The Lorax in Protecting the Climate
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – In the book and movie, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax encourages kids to save the trees. Now this beloved character is at the heart of a new campaign. Team ENERGY STAR empowers kids to help protect the climate through easy-to-implement, money-saving actions and provides them an outlet for sharing that passion. Kids and their families are directed to www.energystar.gov/team, where they get easy-to-download educational and interactive materials. These include a comprehensive website Action Kit, the ENERGY STAR Home Check-Up, a Lorax activity booklet and a Lorax moustache-making kit. Kids are also encouraged to come back and share their stories about protecting the environment through saving energy, which will be showcased on the ENERGY STAR website and on social media channels.
“We are excited to work with EPA’s ENERGY STAR on this innovative program,” said Raymond Crosby, president of Crosby. “Millions know The Lorax as a symbol of environmental stewardship, and now he’s teaching a new generation to ‘speak for the trees’ by using energy wisely.”

TEDxChesterRiver: “Ideas Worth Spreading” comes to Chestertown, June 30th.
Have you discovered or been a longtime fan of TED talks? Since 1984, the non-profit TED (originally for Technology, Entertainment, Design) has brought together the world’s thinkers and do-ers at annual conferences to share their “ideas worth spreading.”
TED’s presenters, who have ranged from T. Boone Pickens to U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins, Jane Goodall to Al Gore, each have had 18 minutes to present the talk of their lives. The results are inspiring, entertaining, and sometimes just jaw-dropping.
Now, the conversation is coming to the Eastern Shore, with TEDxChesterRiver.
The event will be held Saturday, June 30, at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, from 1:00 to 6:30 at the Gibson Center for the Arts. TEDxChesterRiver will be a combination of twelve live speakers, performances and selected recorded TED talks on a wide range of subjects — all fostering learning, inspiration, and provoking conversations that matter.
Just of few of the twelve scheduled, live speakers include former Congressman Wayne Gilchrest, Paul Reed Smith of PRS Guitars, Chesapeake Bay chef and author John Shields, Gabrielle Tayac from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, Carol Christian from the Space Telescope Science Institute, professors and leaders from Washington College, and more. A full list of scheduled speakers can be found at TEDxChesterRiver.com/speakers.
The theme for the inaugural TEDxChesterRiver is “Where We Belong.” We’ll be exploring everything from our place in the universe, to new approaches for learning about our world, to where we belong among the animal species – even the “why” of setting records for solo sailing adventures.
With TEDxChesterRiver, Maryland’s Eastern Shore joins a global community of TED and TEDx events. “TEDx events like ours are independently organized, but licensed by TED, and follow in the TED tradition of ‘riveting talks by remarkable people’,” says the event’s organizer, Elise Kolaja, who is a creative director at Crosby Marketing Communications. “My goal for TEDxChesterRiver is to become a way for our entire community to come together for a fascinating afternoon.”
Tickets for the event are available at the TEDxChesterRiver.com website, and are $30 per person. The ticket price will include a beverage break and a happy hour reception.
